“Human Values & Sustainability”
The Forum will be a powerful dialogue about the relationship between human values and sustainability, with a particular focus on values and sustainability in business and other large organizations. The Forum is sponsored by the Fulbright Academy of Science and Technology and the Institute for Sustainable Enterprise with the support of the Aspen Institute.
What is the format for the Forum?
The central activity of the Forum happens in roundtable dialogues inquiring into values and sustainability. Informed by the insights and alignments from our dialogues there will be a part of the Forum designed for us to express commitments, and if so moved, promise action. Informed by our dialogue we will move to an inquiry about new ways of organizing and acting and looking deeper in the role Forum participants can play to transform the possibilities into reality.
The dialogues will be enriched in several ways that will make
this Forum highly creative:
- To enrich, energize, and inform the dialogue, inquiry and action, keynote speakers will provide a general framing for the inquiry and dialogue, showing how values are fundamental to how we see the world, how we deal with our challenges, how they contribute to our mind-sets, and decision making.
- The roundtable will be further enriched and diversified by the panel members who will open particular areas of inquiry, such as south-north perspectives, values and indigenous peoples, technology issues, and others.
The afternoon keynote speaker will help manage the transition from dialogue to an inquiry for action, and in the process, frame the role that values play in all of our strategies and actions. The panel members will invite and create pathways to action in the various areas, such as taking the insights from the values dialogue into organizations, developing new curricula, partnering with NGO’s, as well as discussing relative topics.
